The Acute Stroke Unit
The Acute Stroke Unit at The Wellington Hospital has been established in order to provide patients who have suffered a cerebrovascular event with immediate access to the highest quality medical care and diagnostic technology available. This enables our specialist team of clinicians to provide prompt and appropriate treatment .
Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology
The Wellington Hospital's extensive cardiac facilities have earned a well-deserved Centre of Excellence title. With several leading cardiac surgeons and cardiologists, a high skilled team of radiographers, technicians and nurses, the hospital has one of the largest cardiac surgical programmes in Europe.
The unit offers both intensive care and progressive care beds, dedicated theatre and two cardiac catheterisation laboratories, helping to make the department a leader in it's field with services ranging from ultrasound monitoring to coronary angioplasty and pacemaker implanting.
Neurosurgery unit
The Wellington Hospital's Neurosurgical Centre is the private sector's first comprehensive 24 hour emergency neurosurgical service. It is staffed by a highly qualified specialist team which is able to deal with almost every neurosurgical evetuality. The team has it's disposal fully equipped neurosurgical theatre, a 36-bed dedicated unit, back up of the hospital's Intensive Therapy Unit, neuroradiolgy including CT scanning, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and full physiotherapy service.
Centre for Neurological Rehabilitation
The Wellington Hospital has provided a Neurosurgical and Spinal Service for many years and more recently we have recognised an increasing need for a comprehensive Neurohabilitation programme. The Centre for Neurological Rehabilitation has been designed to meet that need by providing excellence in care for individuals who have experienced a life changing event as a result of trauma or organic disease, causing neurological impairment.
Neuro-Orthopaedic Spinal Service
At The Wellington Hospital the well established Neurosurgical Unit has now been enhanced by the formation of The Neuro-Orthopaedic Spinal Service. Within the service neurosurgeons and orhopaedic surgeons co-operate closely on the assessment, investigation and treatment planning for their patients. When appropriate complex surgery is undertaken by two surgeons operating together. The aim of the service is to provide optimum outcome now and into the future.
